The Torget Preschool is being inspected by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate

Tellusbarn is actively working to improve the conditions for high-quality education. This is the conclusion reached by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate following a quality review of the Torget preschool in Rinkeby.

In its review of 30 preschools in disadvantaged areas, the Swedish Schools Inspectorate examined how school operators work to ensure high-quality education. The review also covers how principals provide preschool teachers with the conditions necessary to lead and carry out instruction.

For the areas reviewed, Tellusbarn received a rating indicating that the work is carried out to a “high degree.” The Swedish Schools Inspectorate considers that the reviewed areas are functioning well and has not identified any areas for improvement within this assessment area.

Tellusbarn’s governance and management of the preschool are characterized by a long-term perspective and a holistic view of the preschool’s mission. “The Swedish Schools Inspectorate assesses that the school operator is, to a large extent, actively working to implement appropriate measures to strengthen the conditions for high-quality education in preschools in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas,” states the Swedish Schools Inspectorate.

The principal of Torgets Preschool demonstrates educational leadership with a focus on the educational mission, which is clear to the staff. According to the Swedish Schools Inspectorate’s assessment, the principal has a good understanding of the extent to which educational goals are being met and takes steps to improve quality.

The report also notes that the preschool’s language development initiatives have had the expected effect, as the children’s language skills have improved and cooperation with families has been strengthened. Furthermore, the approach—in which all staff are expected to participate in professional development so that every work team masters the expected methods for language development—has increased staff engagement.

The Swedish Schools Inspectorate’s decision was published in May, in which it found no areas for improvement for Tellusbarn’s Torget preschool within the assessment area. The full report is expected to be published in the fall of 2023.
