Through a hands-on training series led by Undervisningsdesign and Julia Perdsjö, teachers are provided with practical tools they can use immediately in the classroom. This initiative is part of a larger effort in which Tellusskolan combines professional development with the development of its own school system, Kentaur.
From Question to Practice
AI in schools is often discussed in broad terms. For Julia Perdsjö, it’s about something much more concrete:
“The idea is to go from ‘What is this?’ to ‘How do I do this on Monday?’” she says.
For Tellusgruppen , this is not a one-off effort, but a deliberate, long-term initiative. The goal is to provide teachers with tools that free up time, enhance instruction, and make AI a natural part of their work. The training is conducted in partnership with Google and focuses on practical, everyday applications.

She highlights how this affects the role of teachers:
– The focus shifts from production to interaction. Teachers have more energy to devote to engaging with their students.
This is also where the direction of the initiative becomes clear. AI should not be added on top of existing work, but rather used to enhance the educational interaction. She also sees how many teachers are surprised by the possibilities:
– What’s most surprising is that AI can serve as an educational sparring partner. It can help refine perspectives and create inclusive materials.
This paves the way for instruction that caters to the needs of more students, while also providing teachers with better support in planning and implementation.
A Strategic Investment in Skills and Systems
Tellusgruppen has chosen to complete the training during work hours. She emphasizes why this is crucial:
– It’s absolutely crucial. Otherwise, there’s a risk of leaving both teachers and students on their own as these changes unfold.
By making this a joint effort, we establish a common standard and a common language regarding AI in education. At the same time, the training is part of a larger development initiative in which Tellusgruppen is simultaneously developing Kentaur, a school system where AI is integrated into teachers’ daily work.
Google tools such as Gemini and NotebookLM are already being used in the classroom, while Kentaur represents the next step—integrating AI directly into the systems that teachers use every day. This means that professional development and system development go hand in hand.

Through this initiative, Tellusskolan is taking an active step toward improving education, both by enhancing teachers’ skills and by shaping the digital learning environments of the future.
