More than 100 teachers from Tellusbarn’s outdoor preschools gathered on a late-summer day for a joint training session with instructors from I Ur och Skur. The day is a concrete example of how Tellusgruppen invests in teachers’ professional development and in instruction that makes a difference in the children’s daily lives.
Quality in preschool is most evident in the interactions between children and educators. It is reflected in the teaching, in the relationships, in the sense of security, and in the opportunities children are given to explore and understand the world around them.
That is why educators' knowledge and professional development are a central part of the Tellus Group's quality assurance efforts.
The training day focused on outdoor education and nature as a learning environment. The educators participated in hands-on exercises, learned about new methods, and exchanged experiences with colleagues from Tellusbarn’s various outdoor preschools.
Knowledge That Reaches All the Way to the Children
When educators are given the opportunity to develop their skills, new opportunities are also created for the children.
The knowledge gained during the training day can be directly applied to the day-to-day activities of preschools. This might involve letting the children explore the changing seasons, discover plants and animals, solve problems together, or develop language and mathematical thinking using nature as a starting point.
Outdoor learning gives children the opportunity to use their whole bodies and all their senses. Movement, play, curiosity, and learning all become part of the same experience.
Not only does it strengthen the children’s knowledge, but it can also foster a sense of community, independence, a love of physical activity, and confidence in their own abilities.
A collaborative effort with Tellusbarn’s outdoor program
The training day is part of the ongoing effort to strengthen and develop Tellusbarn’s shared outdoor education profile.
When educators from several preschools come together, it creates opportunities to share experiences, inspire one another, and build on the knowledge that already exists within their programs. This contributes to a shared direction, while at the same time allowing each preschool to tailor its instruction to its children, its local environment, and its own circumstances.
School Superintendent Maria Friberg attended the event and had the opportunity to witness firsthand the educators’ dedication, experiences, and commitment to continuing to improve instruction.
An Investment in Quality and the Future
For Tellusgruppen , long-term development is about creating favorable conditions for the people who interact with the children in our programs every day.
Investing in educators’ professional development is therefore also an investment in children’s well-being, learning, and future. When educators are given new tools and the opportunity to grow together, quality is enhanced where it matters most—in children’s everyday lives.
We are proud and delighted to have had all the educators participate and contribute their curiosity, energy, and strong commitment to the children’s development.
