Bijan Fahimi in *Dagens industri*: The government must take action to boost the birth rate

Sweden has a historically low birth rate—a trend that affects the entire economy and, in particular, the education and child care sectors.
In an op-ed in Dagens industri, Tellus Group CEO Bijan Fahimi urges the government to take action as early as this fall’s budget to reverse the trend.
Bijan highlights four specific reforms that both strengthen families and promote growth:
- A child tax credit that increases disposable income for households with children and reinforces the work incentive.
- Free childcare and the expansion of services during non-standard working hours.
- Expanded tax deduction for childcare and household-related services.
- Better conditions for student parents to make it easier to balance education and family life.
– “Waiting for studies to be completed means losing valuable time. These measures benefit both families with children and the economy and should be implemented now, ” says Bijan Fahimi.
